Katrina and Michael: The School of Art Institute Ballroom

I met Katrina and Michael one year before their wedding. They are the sweetest couple and we had so much fun through out the planning process. Katrina and Michael selected St. Michaels Church for their ceremony and the School of Art Institute Ballroom for their reception.

The wedding day began with hair and make up at the Palmer House hotel. Everyone was all smiles in preparation for the big day. Katrina looked timeless in her wedding gown that was designed and made by her own mother!

Kehoe Designs provided gorgeous floral and decor for this special occasion. Katrina carried a classic, tailored bouquet of ivory roses and peonies. The bridesmaids held bouquets with textural floral in shades of ivory, nude, and pale blush that accented their soft pink Two Birds Bridesmaid dresses perfectly.

Similar floral adorned the guest tables at the reception. We featured two different centerpiece designs; one consisted of a collection of ivory, white, and pale blush floral intermixed among champagne-colored mercury glass and tall cylindrical containers with floating candles and the other displayed a lush low arrangement consisting of peonies, garden roses, and ranunculus.

Guests were greeted with two speciality cocktails – a “his” and “hers”. The “his” cocktail was bourbon whiskey, apple cider, and old fashioned bitters – the perfect fall drink – and the “hers” cocktail was a refreshing Pear Martini with St. Germain elderflower liquor.

Food for Thought Catering provided a fantastic meal of Striped Seabass and Slow Roasted Hanger Steak and to top off the evening, we passed beignets and chocolate milk for a late night snack on the dance floor.

It was a perfect day from start to finish! Special thanks to Olivia Leigh and Poetic Productions for capturing all of these special moments.

Amy and Blake: Chicago Botanic Garden

Amy and I became fast friends through the planning process. She would glow with excitement at each planning meeting and had a clear vision of what she envisioned for her and Blake’s summer wedding. Amy and Blake picked one of our favorite venues, the Chicago Botanic Garden, for their reception and the historic Old St. Patrick’s Church for their ceremony. We had a blast bringing Amy and Blake’s vision to life throughout the year of planning!

There was so much excitement in Amy’s suite when we arrived on the wedding day. Amy looked stunning in her silk taffeta Amsale dress with french lace detail. Amy carried a gorgeous lush all-white bouquet full of peonies, ranunculus, and hand-wired gardenia blooms. The bridesmaids wore long slate-blue dresses and each carried a different bouquet to create an ombre effect.

Amy and Blake had a beautiful ceremony at Old St. Patrick’s Church. After saying “I Do,” they hopped in a classic, vintage white car and made their way to Chicago Botanic Garden to celebrate.
HMR Designs transformed the McGinley Pavilion at the Chicago Botanic Garden into a gorgeous garden elegant affair. We incorporated both round and rectangular tables topped with a mix of blush and taupe linens. The round tables hosted a collection of myrtle topiary, pillar candles, and mono-botanic blooms of coral charm and blush peonies, ivory roses and blush spray roses and salmon ranunculus. Mercury glass and clear votive candles completed the design.

A lush garland of lemon leaf foliage ran down the center of each rectangular table, accented with coral and blush peonies, ivory and peach spray roses, and blush roses. A beautiful greenery garland connected Amy and Blake’s chairs at the head table. Botanical menu cards were tucked in each napkin topped with a sprig of fresh lavender.

Guest enjoyed a fabulous meal by Culinary Landscapes and delicious wedding cake featuring passionfruit, red velvet, and devil’s food with chocolate ganache before dancing the night away to the sounds of Gold Coast All Stars.

A sparkler exit concluded the evening, and it was a perfect wedding day for Amy and Blake!

Colleen and John: Butterfield Country Club

Colleen and John’s May 16th wedding was the perfect start to the season! The day began with hair and make up at Colleen’s parents home in River Forest. Everyone was calm and relaxed enjoying the warm weather on the outdoor patio. Colleen was glowing when Erin with Revel Decor delivered the most beautiful bouquets full of lush open peonies and the most adorable babies breath flower crowns for the four flower girls.

The bridesmaids wore gorgeous light blue long dresses and carried light pink peony bouquets. Colleen looked stunning in her strapless Vera Wang gown and gold Manolo Blahnik heels. To top of the look, she had the most stunning veil embroidered with floral lace.

The ceremony took place at St. Luke’s Church in River Forest – the same church Colleen attended growing up. The front steps were accented with a duo of lovely, soft olive green foliage, white blooms and accents of babies breath, brilliant white roses and soft clusters of hydrangea.

Clusters of olive toned greenery and soft white floral including peonies, hydrangea, mums, and roses hung from each of the pews.

The ceremony was lead by family friend which made it such a personal celebration for all. Colleen and John said their “I-do’s” and recessed down the aisle to bagpipes.

After the ceremony, guests made their way to Butterfield Country Club and enjoyed speciality cocktails including “hers” – prosecco and raspberry and “his” – vodka stone sours on the beautiful veranda overlooking the golf greens. Personalized koozies, matchbooks, and cocktail napkins were displayed on the bars for that extra special touch. Guests also enjoyed the fabulous sushi station and passed hors d’oeuvres. Despite the weather predictions, the sun came out just in time for photos on the golf course.

Adorable paper details including escort cards, instagram signs, thank you cards, table numbers, and sweets table signage were displayed through out the space. Before entering the ballroom, guests stopped by the stunning place card table. The table was covered in unique candle presentations in various shapes and sizes, which included clear glass, gold candlesticks, floating and pillar.  A bold floral statement full of rich white hydrangea, white roses, white peonies and tucks of gold seeded eucalyptus was displayed in the center of the candlelight.

Revel Decor designed two different centerpieces to offer a nice variance among the tables. One half of the tables featured a rich clear glass statement with a hurricane filled with pillar candlelight highlighting the center of the table. At the edges, three compositions of white hydrangea, roses, and peonies along with wisps of gold eucalyptus were artfully arranged amongst the flickering votives in antique gold containers.

The second design was a low arrangement composed of similar white florals with a trio of stemmed floating candlelight at varying heights framing the edges. A garland composed of botanicals accented the back of the bride and groom’s chairs.

After a delicious meal, guests enjoyed an elaborate sweets display including chocolate covered strawberries, oreo shooters, mini cheese cakes and assorted cookies to name a few. High Society Orchestra had everyone up and dancing the night away.

The evening concluded with McDonald’s burgers and fries late night. It was a perfect wedding day for Colleen & John and we wish them many years of love & happiness!

Newberry Library Wedding: Alison and Kevin

I had so much fun working with Alison & Kevin in preparation for their big day. They are the sweetest couple! When I arrived to the hotel to meet the girls, everyone was so calm – an indication for a perfect wedding day to come! Ali looked stunning in her wedding dress, and we loved the neutral bridesmaid dresses. The bridal bouquet included beautiful blush and white peonies, ranunculus, astilbe, hydrangea and garden roses, and the bridesmaid bouquets added the perfect pop of color with peach juliet garden roses and muted coral peonies.

Dinner and dancing took place in Ruggles Hall. The ballroom was absolutely stunning with champagne linens, mahogany chairs, and a mixture of high and low centerpieces that included gorgeous florals in peach, ivory, blush, and coral. The tables were accented in floating candles of various sizes and table names with significant meanings to the bride and groom. Ali and Kevin created adorable signs that looked like a library book explaining the significance behind each table name, which was a great way to personalize the evening.
